MIT is offering tuition-free attendance for undergraduates with family incomes below $200,000 starting next year. Families with incomes below $100,000 won’t have to pay anything for their students’ MIT education. Need-based financial aid has increased significantly at MIT, with $167.3 million earmarked for undergraduate students this year. MIT is one of only nine colleges in the US that meets the full demonstrated financial need for all undergraduates, regardless of their ability to pay. The cost of attendance for MIT families in 2025 will remain affordable for families with incomes up to $200,000. The financial aid provided by MIT is largely funded by its endowment, a result of gifts from past alumni and friends.
