US Gov announces $8.5B preliminary CHIPS investment agreement with Intel

The U.S. Department of Commerce is proposing up to $8.5 billion in direct funding for Intel under President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda. This funding aims to strengthen the U.S. supply chain and re-establish American leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. Intel’s investments over the next five years exceeding $100 billion will create over 10,000 manufacturing jobs and nearly 20,000 construction jobs in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon. This partnership marks one of the largest investments ever in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and includes support for workforce development. The CHIPS for America program aims to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. and create a strong R&D ecosystem.
