In the past, playing video on low-end machines like 8088s and CGA was not possible. However, the release of the demo 8088 Corruption in 2004 and its successor 8088 Domination in 2014 changed that. These demos allowed for video playback on an 8088 at 4.77 MHz with CGA and a Sound Blaster 2.0. Although this seems like an anachronism, the Sound Blaster 2.0 was the first sound solution that could provide seamless playback on the IBM PC. The author also explores the possibility of playing video on other devices like the PC speaker, Covox, and Tandy, making for an interesting experiment.
