Volkswagen, Porsche, and Audi say they will use Tesla’s EV charging plug

Volkswagen Group has announced that it will adopt Tesla’s electric vehicle charging standard, following in the footsteps of other automakers such as Ford and GM. The company is exploring adapter solutions to enable its current EV owners to access Tesla’s Supercharger network, with plans to roll out a solution by 2025. Additionally, VW’s future electric vehicles will feature Tesla’s charging port as standard. This partnership will provide VW customers with access to Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network, which boasts 15,000 locations in North America. VW’s late entry into this realm is notable, as many other automakers have already taken the plunge. It remains to be seen how this move will impact the electric vehicle charging landscape going forward.
