: It’s clear that building a robust public electric-vehicle charging infrastructure is essential to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. While media focus has been on vehicle performance, consumer desire for EVs to suit their travel needs is paramount. A 2022 Forbes survey revealed that EV owners faced range anxiety, affecting their travel plans. The high cost of EV charging stations, with 60% dedicated to galvanic isolation, hinders infrastructure development. The proposal to eliminate galvanic isolation could reduce costs significantly while maintaining safety through double-ground and ground-continuity detection systems. This innovative approach, named direct power conversion, aims to enhance safety, reduce costs, and increase the efficiency of EV charging stations.
