Josie Kins, a former psychonaut and now a scientific researcher, has compiled a list of 233 effects people experience under the influence of psychedelic drugs called the Subjective Effect Index. She has personally tried over 200 psychedelic compounds and had hundreds of psychedelic experiences. Kins, who works for a startup drug company called Mindstate Design Labs, is working to make the classification system more precise and comprehensive, while under the advisement of renowned psychedelic researchers Thomas Ray and Andy Newburg. She has categorized the visual effects of psychedelics, such as diffraction, increased pareidolia, machinescapes, and scenery slicing. However, it’s the cognitive and emotional effects that need the most refinement.
