Introducing a new satellite image product, co-financed by Geofabrik, that offers tile services for web maps using a combination of the Green Marble and pixel statistics. The Green Marble is a high-quality global satellite image produced through pixel statistics analysis. However, this method has limitations, particularly at higher resolutions. The alternative is classical mosaicing techniques, which require complex processing and human judgement for high-quality results. The new Musaicum EU-plus image, created through a highly automated classical mosaicing process, shows promising results with minimal cloud incidences. The image’s focus is on land areas, with some challenges in visualizing water surfaces. Further work and extensions are planned for the project.
